There is a rule in our house. We are not allowed to say the word “can’t.” This is Dan’s rule and it was so foreign to me when we met. I was used to telling myself I couldn’t do it. I think most of us are. We grow up hearing it, even from people who care about us. Not Dan. His parents were told he couldn’t walk. They said, “Oh, yes he can.” And that is the kind of support he had in his life.
And he has taught me the same thing. Yes I CAN. Maybe I don’t WANT to do something. Maybe I am not GOOD at something. But, I CAN do it. And we teach the kids that, too. How often have you heard your own kids, “But I CAN’T!!!” That does not fly in our house. You TRY. You DO. You CAN.
So tonight I was thinking about that. I have had a very long tough day. I had no idea what I would write today. I wanted to give up. I “couldn’t” do it. And then this little voice said, “Oh, yes you can.”
I decided I wanted to share this philosophy and my best way to keep this attitude going. It is really simple. It is a little silly. It is what works for me. I collect inspiring quotes. I love quotes and song lyrics that make me feel empowered. So tonight, so very late for a PSA post (sorry) I will share some of the most inspiring. I hope they inspire you, too. Remember that you always CAN unless you tell yourself otherwise.

or you think you can’t —
